Gueorgui Pinkhassov is a very inspirational photographer to me due to his expertise in the use of light and shadows in his images as well as using a lot of reflections In his current photographic work.
Pinkhassov’s expert understanding of lighting can be seen in all of his images from the use of reflections, shadows and harsh highlights. He also has an approach like Alex Webb who brings a subject close to the camera but also has a subject in the background which often is used to create negative space in the background while still looking active.
Researching more into Pinkhassovs’ work has opened my eyes in the way I can shoot my own street photography reminding me to get in close to block the cameras view to create negative space and the use shadows and highlights to my advantage.

I like this shot due to its framing and the use of reflections in the windows. This image has very obviously been shot through windows but I am unsure of how many. I feel that everything we can see in the shot apart from the mannequin and the mirror is a reflection.

This image is one of my favorites of Gueorgiu due to the use of shadows, highlights and silhouettes. As can be seen in the shot there is a cockerel in the foreground that is being brought out by a highlight on its face. In the background you can also see a lot of silhouettes of people shopping in a market.

Here we have another amazing shot by Gueorgiu the framing of the shot I feel is spot on due to the fact most of the picture is taken up by detail in all of the lamps hanging around what looks like a small permanent shop. Gueorgiu also used the lamps to frame the outside world which is a technique that i personally love and will be using in the my own work after researching more into it.
